About Tally Tax

The tax firm for people whose income got complicated.

High income rarely means simple taxes. Multiple 1099s, an S corp, a practice with partners, income in two states, a brokerage account that throws off K-1s — the complexity grows faster than the time you have to manage it.

Tally Tax is a team of CPAs and enrolled agents who prepare, plan and represent — all year, not just in April. You get the same named preparer every season, and every number on your return traces back to a document.

Our services

One firm for every return, estimate and IRS letter.

Most people split their taxes across a tax app, a seasonal preparer and a shoebox of receipts. Nobody owns the whole picture, so things fall through — a missed estimate, a 1099 that doesn’t match, a notice nobody answered.

We handle the whole year in one place, from your first estimated payment to the signed return, so nothing slips between providers.

01. Tax preparation

Individual and business returns, federal and state, prepared and signed by a credentialed pro.

02. Tax planning

Quarterly estimates, entity and salary decisions, and year-end moves — made before the year closes.

03. IRS audits & notices

Notice response and representation before the IRS and state tax agencies.

04. Back taxes

Unfiled returns, payment plans and penalty relief — handled in the order that costs you least.

Why Tally Tax

Credentialed preparers who stay with you all year.

Tax software can’t take a call from the IRS. A seasonal preparer often won’t see you again until next March. We prepare, plan and represent year-round — and the person who signs your return is the person who answers your questions.

How we help

Situations we handle every week

Illustrative examples of common problems and how we approach them. Every situation is different; your preparer will walk through yours on a free review.

Two business owners reviewing numbers on a laptop
Example · Business owner · S corp

A growing agency with an S corp and no salary set

Profits had doubled, but the owner was taking distributions with no payroll. We document a reasonable salary, set up owner payroll and quarterly estimates, and coordinate the 1120-S with the personal return so the K-1 lines up.

A client and preparer going over IRS paperwork
Example · Physician · IRS notice

A CP2000 for 1099 income that was already reported

A locum physician’s 1099s were reported on the business schedule, and the IRS matched them as missing. We trace each form to the return, write the response with support attached, and track it until the notice is closed.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

The short answers. Your free review covers the specifics of your situation.

Didn’t find your answer?

Ask a preparer
Who is Tally Tax for?

Business owners, high-income 1099 contractors and licensed professionals — physicians, attorneys, consultants, agency owners — whose taxes have outgrown software but who don’t want to chase a seasonal preparer every spring.

Who prepares and signs my return?

A CPA or enrolled agent on your team prepares your return, a second preparer reviews it, and your preparer signs it as the paid preparer. You’ll walk through it together before anything is filed.

What happens if I get an IRS or state notice?

Send it to us. We read it, note the response deadline, pull the records behind the numbers in question, and tell you what it means and what we recommend. With your authorization, we respond and represent you.

I’m behind on filing. Can you still help?

Usually, yes. We start by pulling your IRS transcripts to see exactly what has and hasn’t been filed, then catch up the missing years in the order that limits penalties and interest. It’s better to start now than wait.

Do you do bookkeeping too?

Yes, for clients who need it. Clean books make for accurate returns and easy estimates, so business owners often add monthly bookkeeping to their tax work. It’s optional.

How are your fees set?

Flat fees based on which returns you need and how complex they are. You’ll get a fixed quote after your free review, before you commit to anything.
